NFS Debian Squeeze CheatSheet

  1. Install nfs

apt-get install nfs-kernel-server
  1. Add the export

 echo "/media/nfs-share 192.168.0.15(rw,no_subtree_check)" >> /etc/exports
  1. Update your exports

exportfs -a
  1. Change the following line in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server

RPCMOUNTDOPTS="--manage-gids"

to

RPCMOUNTDOPTS="-p 32767 --manage-gids"

This will bind the nfs to the given port. Otherwise i guess you would have to use portmap.

Finally mount your data:

sudo mount -t nfs YOURNFSSERVERIP:/media/nfs-share nfs-share

A fstab entry could look like this:

YOURNFSSERVERIP:/media/nfs-share /media/nfs-share nfs rw,rsize=4096,wsize=4096,hard,intr,async,nodev,nosuid 0 0
